[Opinions] Campbell
I heard this name on a girl a few months ago. What do you think?

I went to highschool with a guy named this, but I don't particularly care for it. It's just one of those names better left as a surname, or at the very least as a middle name. And yeah, the soup company immediately comes to mind.
Definitely don't like it on a girl.

Utterly hideous as a first name, especially on a poor little girl. Its strictly a surname, and if you knew the rep that surname often has in Scottish history, you would never consider it.
It was used for a boy on my family tree, in 1875. His younger sister and her husband emigrated from the UK to South Africa before 1900 and had a family of sons, one of whom they named Campbell. I have no idea why: they weren't a Scottish family for instance. My family were in contact with some of his brothers, but I never met him: he lived in a different part of the country it seems. It did make me associate Campbell as a fn as being strictly male. I also know a thoroughly unpleasant person whose ln is Campbell, and that doesn't inspire me to like it for either gender.
I prefer the last name (actually, I like the last name Campbell)
I'm not really a fan of Campbell for either gender. I do think of the soup company which is unfortunate.
The only instance I could imagine anyone using it would be in the middle spot because it's the maiden name of the mother or a name in their family tree.
