I think I'd go with Elena, just because it's a bit less used today. (Though I just checked, and my goodness is this one seeing a spike these days!) My preferred pronunciation is ə-LAY-nə.

Eleanor feels really old to me, or maybe it's just where um from.

I prefer Eleanor because it's earthier than the airy Elena.

Both are nice but I like Eleanor better.

Eleanor. I say Elena like e-lae-na and I don't really like the 'lain' sound. I also feel like Eleanor has more personality.

I say Elena as El-AY-nuh, and Eleanor as ELL-uh-nuh. I like Elena more.

I also like el-EH-na for Elena, but I don't like ELL-en-er for Eleanor. I need the "or" sound at the end of Eleanor!

ETA: If Elena has the emphasis on the second syllable, I like as EH and not AY. el-AY-na is good too, but as Elaina or Alaina.

I love both. Elena is El-ay-nuh. If I had to choose, I would pick Elena.

Elena pronunciation - I like "EH-leh-na" which is the Italian pronunciation. "Eh-LEH-na" is the Spanish. They just emphasize either the first syllable or the second.
