My favourite flowers are Common Stocks sometimes known as Brompton Stocks and the Latin name is Matthiola Incana. I wouldn’t be brave enough to name a child Matthiola. I would be more likely to name a daughter Bryony as I feel it’s an underused flower name.

I often buy (lilac) Brompton Stocks, beautiful flowers with a lovely fragrance. I wouldn’t use Matthiola either, although Mattie could be a cute nickname. Bryony is a good choice!
