In French, it's LAY-ohn-teen for sure. I don't like it much in French. I agree that Lee-un-teen is a bit softer.
LEEonteen. Magnificently operatic! But for everyday use it would shorten, and the possibilities aren't pleasing: Lee, Leo, Leonie (probably the best), Tina. Safer as a mn.
