Wdyt of Cleason as a first name? I knew someone with this first name, she's a senior Millennial. AND I also knew someone who had this as a ln.

Why southern US?
It's a tradition to use family surnames as first names.

My SIL's family also has a Laura (pronounced like Lah-ra) tradition

I don't really like it on a woman, but I do like the name in general. It has "glee" in it without being corny.
I may be aging myself when I say this but I remember the loudmouth character Ralph Kramden played by actor Jackie Gleason of "The Honeymooners". That's what I think of when I hear the name Gleason.
Awful as a given name in general, utterly tragic on a girl. Something... slippery about it.
I thought this was going to be a male name. Don't like it on a boy, but it's even worse on a girl. I think the name is pretty nasal and very surname-y.
Yeah, her name was different at first but I got used to it like any other name. She also has a "son" last name which I thought did not work well.
Oh, yikes, that's not a good pairing. That makes the name a bit rhyme-y.
