[Opinions] Which name would you choose: a name that was popular among you or your parents' generation or an old-fashioned name that hasn't made a comeback?
In my case, I like girl names that were popular in my parents' generation, so I will choose a name that was popular in my generation and my parents' generation name.

The latter.
Definitely older for a first name. For a middle name I wouldn't be opposed to something from my own generation.
Unless I'm naming a kid after my family, I'd rather use an older name that has a bit of vintage flair than an outdated one.
I'm more likely to use names from my great-grandparents and great-great grandparent's generation. Many of those names are coming back in style or at least feel fresher than than the more recently dated names. My parents were from the generation that included a lot of people with names like Kimberly, Kevin, Tammy, James "Jim," Scott, and Jeffrey. I think my parent's generation will be in a nursing home by the time their names make a comeback. My generation had a lot of names like Jessica, Kaitlyn, Lauren, Tyler, Matthew and Brandon. I wouldn't give a kid a name that sound's like their parent's peer.
It would depend on the name. For example, I'd pick Jessica over Beulah but not Amber over Rhoda.
Thank you.
I like names from both of your listed categories, so it would personally depend. I say, just use whatever you'd like to; the "datedness" of a name shouldn't ruin it.
Thank you. You're right.
An old fashioned name that hasn’t made a comeback. It would still be a fairly uncommon name, but one that is recognized as a name and not likely to be confused as a kr8tiv or trendy name.
Thank you.
