I've seen XYZavier I guess the parents were trying to work in a lesson on the alphabet
Poor child!
I wouldn't chose that spelling personally, but it's close enough to the etymology of the name.
The name was popularized as a first name by Saint Francis Xavier, founder of the Jesuits. He was born into the town of Javier (or Xavier) in Navarre. The town is called Xabier in Basque, which derives from the long form Etxeberri or 'new house'. It became Xavier in Navarro-Aragonese and Javier in Spanish.

At first I thought I hated it, then I realized it’s actually kind of a nice spelling.
Don't like it at all
While I don't necessarily like the name much, I do agree with ShioTanbo1 that this spelling makes the pronunciation clearer. I always want to pronounce Xavier with the X. Now I do have a student named Exzavier with the E, X and Z it is just way too much.
If you want to pronounce it ex-ay-vyur then this is the spelling you should go for, because I hate pronouncing Xavier that way. However, I don't like that pronunciation either, so this name is just a no for me.
Well said! I totally agree with you in every way.
At first I didn't care for it at all...however, after reading ShioTanbo1's response, I have to agree. Despite that, I'd never use the name Exavier, and (very much) prefer the look of Xavier.
I like it because I've been pronouncing Xavier "ex-ay-vyer" for years, not knowing it was just supposed to be "zay-vyer". This spelling eliminates the confusion. Names beginning with X and Z look weird, so Exavier gives me no issues. :)
I still think it’s supposed to be ex-ay-vyer.
