When I was very young I LOVED the name
Cassidy. I thought it was magical, and as a result I loved
Cassie too. I never knew any, so it seemed like a name from a fairy tale to me.
Nowadays I find it a bit shrill, but there is still something likeable about it in an odd sort of way. I guess because of my childish admiration of it. It's got annoying brat vibes but the sort that has good intentions - like
Jane Austen's character
Emma, sort of.
But I agree, it's not a great name. I watched a murder thriller recently where the deeply troubled and complex homicide detective was named
Cassie and I immediately thought what a terrible name that was for her. There's nothing complex or troubled about
Cassie.
