Help[Opinions] Lindsay for a boy?
As many of you are aware, I am a big fan of "unisex" names on boys. One such name that I was recently thinking about is Lindsay (which also happens to be one of my favorites from this category). What do you think of Lindsay (or Lindsey, if you prefer that spelling) for a boy?

I'm all for it. I also really like Ashley & Courtney on boys, too. Shannon is another good unisex name. ;o) But you said Lindsay is one of your faves, so I won't bore you with suggestions. ;oD Ok, I'll bore you. I like the combo Lindsay Jefferson, although Jefferson is surnamey.

I met a man named Lindsay once, and I found it very hard to equate the name Lindsay with the man that was standing in front of me, although I know it was originally a boy's name. I think it's become so common for girls, that a boy named Lindsay would probably encounter quite a lot of confusion in his life!
Having said that, if you're going to use it, I prefer the spelling Lindsey for a boy.

I like it more for a boy than a girl. There's a guy at my school, a senior, whose name is Lindsay and as far as I know no one has teased him about it severely.

I like it on a boy.
Lindsay, Leslie, Shannon, and Kelly are all unisex names that I *vastly* prefer on boys over girls. Shannon and Kelly are actually two favorites of mine, period, regardless of whether unisex usage is a question. :-)

I don't really like it on either sex. The sound just does nothing for me, sorry. Leslie would be nice, though.

It's just too far gone to be used on a boy now. I agree with Elemmennope; it's unfair that there's a double standard about gender and that a boys' name can be "taken over" by girls, but the unfortunate truth is that it would be difficult for a boy to be named Lindsay in this day and age.

While I find the way boy names get taken over by girls unfortunate, I wouldn't want my own son to endure one of those names just because I wanted to stubbornly make a point about society's gender issues.
Imo Lindsay is too far gone to the girls with SO MANY girls out there right now with the name. A boy would have to endure a lot of teasing I think.

Nice, but not for my kid. I like unisex names too, but this one has crossed over too far. Kids could be so cruel to him.

I used to like it for a girl, but now I'm not big on it. And, frankly, I don't really like it for a boy either. Nms.

I like it a lot for a boy (Lindsay more than Lindsey) and not at all for a girl. But in the U.S., it has been SO overused as a girls' name that there would likely be confusion and teasing, which is terribly unfortunate. Could work well as a mn, or maybe give it 10 years and it will have died down a little more as a girls' name. :b

Lindsay is great for a boy, I have only ever known one man with this name though and most people I know see it as a girl only name

I like it on a boy (better than on a girl), but I'd never do it to my son to name him Lindsay, I never heard this used on a boy irl, and I think most people see it as a girls name.

I really like Lindsay on a girl, and although I've never thought of it for a boy...it reminds me of Leslie. Also, I know a guy named Lencie and it's pronounced very similarly to Lindsey. I think on a boy I would spell it Lindsey, though, because the -ay ending looks more feminine to me somehow.
