Emerson is one of those guys who quotes remarkably well, but the concepts behind his larger texts (ie essays, etc; not quotations) can be a little loopy. But I enjoy him anyway.
I can't stand that this has been used as a girl name. Yuck! But I think it would make a nice boy's MN. One of my fave combos is
Julian Hawthorne (for
Nathaniel Hawthorne), so I can see
Emerson in that capacity. I adore Poe, but
Edgar,
Allan, and Poe are unappealing as names. Oh, well. They can't all be winners. :)
PS: Try
The American Scholar. Some great quotations.
What are the convulsions of a city in comparison with the insurrections of the soul?
Man is a depth still greater than the people.
