It seems a bit dated in style and the the combination of letters is not appealing. I like Denny more because it seems more timeless. Kendris seems more feminine to me, maybe because of Kendra? I’ve never come across it before, what are its origins?

I'd guess Kendris / Kendrys was made up somewhere in the Americas, idk when. The submitted section on BTN lists it as English (American) and Latin American. When I google it, there's a professional baseball player named Kendrys who is Cuban-Dominican.
