[Opinions] Honoring a Thelma
What names would you use to honor a Thelma? I'm curious about feminine, masculine, and unisex names. Thanks!
Replies
I think I'd go with Thela or Thelo (maybe that could be unisex?)
Thelmaria / Themaria
Thelema (but kind of weird since it's also the name of a religion)
Thelonius
Elma ?
Thelia
Thelmina
Thelan
Thelys
Assuming Thelma is based on thelema (will), some "will" names:
Iroda
Thato
Uduak
Tsuyoshi (or any other name involving 志 ji/shi for "will, purpose")
Zhi
Vilja
Willa
William
Willona

Went on a bit of a link-clicking bender and will add these names to the list. They're all sources of Thélio, which apparently has Breton/Welsh roots.
Télio or Telio
Teliav
Théliau or Théleau
Telo or Teilo (prn TAY-lo)
And a few other names from free associating with the origin of Thelma.
Corelli - author of the book Thelma
Ronja or Ronia - another name invented for a fictional Scandinavian protagonist
Thekla or Tecla
Thelford
Thélise
Telmo
Telma
Telemachus
Tellervo
Telena - cool meaning, "of winter"
Teleon
Teleri
Telsilla
Telesmar
Telethusa
Telig
Telimena
Teller
Hamlet and Malthe are both anagrams. Getting more creative, how about Meltha, Maleth, Letham, or Lathem?

It’s not a great name to begin with, but I think the prettiest variant is Thelmarie.
I'm also ok with getting more creative and not just reproducing a name. Like a name with similar letters or sounds, a similar meaning, or a similar vibe.
