Most of the girls ones I've known have been
Lindsey and all the boys have been
Lindsay. I had a colleague who was
Lynsey: her parents couldn't decide between
Lynne and
Lesley, so they did a merger. I would have preferred
Lindsey. I quite like both the -ay and -ey spellings, and I find it interesting that the first very popular name of this type, where I live anyway, was
Linda, and then there was
Lynne and after that,
Lindsey etc. I've known two Lyndall people, but it hasn't caught on in spite of Story Of An African Farm; I've only ever known one
Belinda.
