Jews aren't required to use Hebrew names. And when they do use them they don't necessarily use them *because* they are Hebrew.
Jason and Eli don't sound especially mismatched to me.Before you criticize a man, walk a mile in his shoes. That way, when you criticize him, you're a mile away and you have his shoes!

Right I wouldn’t assume an Eli to be Jewish automatically, especially since El- names are popular.

I know they don’t need to but they do. I live in a highly Jewish area.

They don’t always do, though. I know Jewish people with names like Katherine, Melissa, Philip, Eric. Jason doesn’t even have a Christian connotation, it’s from Greek mythology.
