Help[Opinions] Another mismatched sibling set
Jason and Eli (b). The father is Jewish and the mother is no religion. Jews often use Hebrew names, but I don't think Jason counts as a Jewish name.

A lot of non super religious Jews use non Jewish names, they aren’t particularly mismatched.

There was a famous historical Jewish Jason, and as a result Jason has been used historically as a Jewish name. Like Alexander, it was adopted to honor someone. Less common now but still a thing.

They don’t seem mismatched to me. Both biblical, both well heard of, seems fine.

Jews aren't required to use Hebrew names. And when they do use them they don't necessarily use them *because* they are Hebrew.

Right I wouldn’t assume an Eli to be Jewish automatically, especially since El- names are popular.

I know they don’t need to but they do. I live in a highly Jewish area.

They don’t always do, though. I know Jewish people with names like Katherine, Melissa, Philip, Eric. Jason doesn’t even have a Christian connotation, it’s from Greek mythology.

Doesn't sound mismatched, they're both really popular names and neither one stands out as religious. Eli has a ton of pop culture associations and Jason just sounds like a jock name, or else Jason and the Argonauts.

I don't think it sounds mismatched. Eli is popular even among the non-religious.
