I love it, but mostly for a black cat.
For a human I like the idea of Onyx with the nickname Nyx or Nyxie (which sounds like Nixie so you get a bonus reference) but even then, I still think it's better for a black cat.

Admittedly I much prefer Onyx, but Nyx is cool - especially with Nyxie / Nixie as a nickname.
