[Opinions] Twin Names
I’m watching Long Lost Family and on it are a set of twins who were given up for adoption after their mother died when they were just 5 months old. When they were adopted their birth names were changed to Dawn and Eve from Jennifer and Frances. If you had twins any gender would you name them entirely different names or would you give them names that were linked in some way like:Dawn & Aurora
Felicity & Verity
Aidan & Nadia
Rowan & SorrelMine would be:Felicity & Hazel
Branwen & Olwen
Imogen & Aldith
Howard & Christopher
James & Michael
Alexander and Nicholas

I think it would really depend. I always somewhat imagined myself having twins since it runs in my family but I could name them almost anything. I look for the sound of the names more than themes or whatever. I think it’s cute, like Celia and Alice, but I’m not a fan.

I’d give them names that were similar and yet different. Probably of the same ethnicity but not starting with the same letter or worse rhyming. Katherine and Elizabeth (Classic English girls names)
Andriy and Dmitriy (Slavic boy names)
Julia and Hadrian ( names from Ancient Rome)
Kieran and Grainne (Irish names)

I'd probably use a similar theme or length/stressed syllables, but nothing too matchy-matchyI'm childfree, but I really like how Flora and Roscoe sound together. Or Eleanor and Seraphine. Or David and Eros, even though I'd never name a child Eros where I live lol

If it were me, I may make the names match in some way. I especially like to do matching lengths of sibling names. I'm not for the "Tara and Sara" rhyming names. G/G: Delina Jan and Hester Lea
G/B Jane Amaris and Ezra Damian
B/B: Evander Florian and Maurice Tristan

I'd give names of a similar style, but not necessarily directly connected, nor too similar in sound.

I'd try not to make them too matchy matchy but might end up using names that I liked with some sort of commonalty between them like same theme or same initial. However I would also do this for non-twin siblings.Today mine would be:
Rowan & Elliot (b/b)
Rowan & Imogen (b/g)
Imogen & Violet (g/g)

I would use twin names with similar meanings, to give them a secret connection but not make it too obvious.David and Mabel (mean loveable/beloved)
Kit and Tilda (diminutives that work as standalone)
Cosmo and Gaia (Universe and Earth)Wren and Primrose (nature related)
Evangeline and Seraphina (angel related)
Margot and Greta (diminutives of the same name)Nathaniel and Theodore (mean gift of god)
Arthur and Wilbur (animal meanings)
Gabriel and Raphael (angel names)

I wouldn't want their names being too similar. I usually think its confusing and corny. There are exceptions. I like:
Howard & Christopher
Alexander & Nicholas
James & Michael
Dawn & Aurora
out of what you listed.

I think the new names, though the matchiness is cutesy, are much better than Jennifer and Frances, which don't sound like they're even from the same generation.I'd just use two names I liked best.
James and BriannaJames and BenjaminBrianna and Jessica

Once upon a time, using all family vintage names, my thinking for twins was Thaddeus Mckinley and Matthias Sanford, Laura Damaris and Rachel Augusta. Pretty sure I would pick something else today.

I'd name them:G/G: Alexis and Kate
G/B: Kate and Enzo
B/B: Enzo and Luca

I would give them distinct but cohesive names, the same as I would with siblings born at different times.
Actually, they would probably have slightly more cohesive names than regular siblings as my opinions would be likely to change between children. Right now, taking my partner’s opinions in mind, I’d do something like:
Gwen and Lillian
Gwen and Bram
Bram and NathanielRight now, if I didn’t have to listen to my partner:
Cecily and Margot
Cecily and August
August and Ezra

Dawn & Eve is an awful thing to do to twins.I would definitely not give twins linked or matching names, unless by accident. If I were to have twins right now (hah) they would be:Rowan & Frederick
Rowan & Freya
Naomi & Fern

I gave my girl twins completely different first names (different initial, end with different letters, have different number of syllables and come from different origins; the other is a feminisation of a name derived from germanic name and the other is derived from a Finnish nature word). Their middle names are matchy though, both of them have a floral middle name (as their elder sister has as well) and both have a second middle that starts with the letter E (stylistically they are very different though). I don't really like overly matchy names for twins or "normal" siblings. If I had twins right now (horrible thought!) they would be:
g&g Emma and Tove or Tuovi
b&b Aukusti and Frans
g&b Emma and Aukusti
