I like both names and they make a reasonable sibling set, but they are very predictable too. There must be millions of guys named David Joshua or Joshua David to make matters worse.

They are handsome names, not boring imho as some claim, but biblical classics, borne by Biblical heroes. I see David as green and Joshua as deep orange, and in my mind they go well together for that reason too. I like the nn Josh well enough to tolerate but hate Dave - prefer David by miles.
