I think it's kind of gross-sounding, if I'm being honest.

I’m so surprised it’s not in the top 1000 at all, in any country.

There was a Nerissa at my high school, and the name always reminds me of her. She was Japanese-American IIRC, smart and cute and athletic and outgoing. But unlike most kids at my school who were noticeably smart, cute, athletic, or outgoing ... she was also friendly and kind to everyone. Thanks to her, maybe, I like the name. I don't favorite it because I like Marissa more, and I don't love Shakespeare-invention names. The Nerissa I knew explained it as referring to nereids, rather than mentioning Shakespeare, and I don't blame her.

I love Nerissa on equal footing as my love for Marissa (since they are so similar) The only problem with Nerissa is I can definitely see a little Nerissa going around correcting people all her life in a similar manner as a girl I knew growing up named "Marisha". That said, I'm sure if people were corrected a few times it would stick with those individuals. Nerissa as a bit of a fresher vibe than the millennial feeling Marissa as well.

Sometimes I think, I love it. As many water-related names Nerissa is quite alluring. I'm very fond of Neri part/nickname, idk why.
Nerissa Calypso - comes to mind first, but it's alarmingly overwhelming.
