I was playing around with looking at current name rankings / jumps / drops etc. when I saw that Banks, as a masculine name, had a 250 point upward jump on the last SSA list. It currently sits at rank #503.

I think Banks as a given name ia quite interesting, but it's really not my taste. Reminds me of the banks (money and geography).
I think these are the factors of Banks' popularity:
1. A celebrity or their child having this name
2. The surname as first name trend
Did you know that -s ending surnames are tryndeigh now? For example this name Collins, Hayes, Reyes (?), etc.

I’m not a fan of this name at all, personally. Tbh, I have no idea why it would gain such popularity. Whatever, though.

I have no idea why this would be rising in popularity other than the across-the-board persistent rise in surnames as first names.
Regardless, this one is such a word, and a word with an increasingly messy connotation. I don't get it.
