Noemi is biblical, not Naomi.

Naomi very much is biblical. It's the version used in the King James Bible (for example, in Ruth 1:8, "And Naomi said unto her two daughters in law, Go, return each to her mother's house: the LORD deal kindly with you, as ye have dealt with the dead, and with me.")

Naomi sounds like a Japanese name to me.The correct option should be Noami or Noemi. The Jewish sailor's name was Noah. The Jewish person who invented Naomi was probably dyslexic.
