[Opinions] I’m bored so...
Few questions. Answer whatever you feel like answering.1. If you had twins today (Whatever gender you want), what would you name them?
2. Would you ever give your first name as a child’s middle name?
3. If not, what about your middle name as your son/daughters middle name as well?
4. You are forced to give your son a feminine name, and you daughter a masculine one. What are their names? (You can add a middle name)
5. Do you prefer names with history to it or is it completely coincidental?
6. Does a name not being ‘genuine’ enough bother you?
7. How do you feel about accents with names? Would you ever use a name with one? (Ex: Chloë, Renée, Anaïs.)
8. What do you think of names with different spelling from the original?
9. Do you like nicknames for your child or even yourself? Or do you prefer the full name?
10. Has the pandemic changed your taste in names?
11. You and your partner just chose the name for your child. You both love it and have no doubts in mind. Your entire family hates it. Do you still keep the name?
12. What is one name that’s popular you actually think deserves it’s time in the light? It can be one for a boy and one for a girl.
13. What is one baby name tradition or trend that you don’t like? It can be anything.
14. What (type) name automatically makes you (Or would make you?) lose respect for a parent?

Girls: Katharine Emma Victoria & Alexandra Elizabeth Elva Mavis (I'm trying to figure out a way to honor my mother and grandparent; Boys: Anthony Fredrick Lawrence & Stephen Matthias Gary2. Would you ever give your first name as a child’s middle name?
Yeah, actually.3. If not, what about your middle name as your son/daughters middle name as well?
Yes.4. You are forced to give your son a feminine name, and you daughter a masculine one. What are their names? (You can add a middle name)
Why am I being forced to do that?
Daughter will be Jesse; son would probably be Jamie.
5. Do you prefer names with history to it or is it completely coincidental?
Usually I love history and have often wondered about names that I don't care for but would honor people I admire from history. But something like Adolph? The history makes it completely unusable.6. Does a name not being ‘genuine’ enough bother you?
I'm not sure what this means, exactly? I don't like it when people throw random syllables together and call it a name, or used bizarre words as names.7. How do you feel about accents with names? Would you ever use a name with one? (Ex: Chloë, Renée, Anaïs.)
If that's a part of the name, I have no issue. I don't care for random throwing accents on names not requiring them. (Ex: not a fan of Chloë or Zoë, I think those are unneeded.)

Indigo and Violet
2. Would you ever give your first name as a child’s middle name?
Yeah sure
3. If not, what about your middle name as your son/daughters middle name as well?
I don't have a middle name
4. You are forced to give your son a feminine name, and you daughter a masculine one. What are their names? (You can add a middle name)
Brooke Leslie and Jesse Thomas
5. Do you prefer names with history to it or is it completely coincidental?
Idk
6. Does a name not being ‘genuine’ enough bother you?
Idk? I mean, one time I met a kid whose actual, real legal first name was "Unicorn", so as long as you don't doom your kids to something like that, I don't really have a problem with it
7. How do you feel about accents with names? Would you ever use a name with one? (Ex: Chloë, Renée, Anaïs.)
Yeah they're cool. I got a friend who called her daughter "Emilié"
8. What do you think of names with different spelling from the original?
They're alright I guess, as long as it's not something utterly ridiculous like "Caytleighnn". Tbh I never really liked it that much
9. Do you like nicknames for your child or even yourself? Or do you prefer the full name?
I'd probably use my kid's full first names and let them choose whether they wanted a nickname when they were older
10. Has the pandemic changed your taste in names?
No
11. You and your partner just chose the name for your child. You both love it and have no doubts in mind. Your entire family hates it. Do you still keep the name?
Yeah, screw them, it's not their kid.
12. What is one name that’s popular you actually think deserves it’s time in the light? It can be one for a boy and one for a girl.
Idk why but I like the name Ivy. Short and sweet.
13. What is one baby name tradition or trend that you don’t like? It can be anything.
Complicating the spellings of names that were already difficult to spell. Because then Rebbeckahh gets angry with everyone for spelling her name wrong when it's her parent's fault
14. What (type) name automatically makes you (Or would make you?) lose respect for a parent?
Unnecessarily random nouns like "Unicorn" "Pencil" or "Stone", and yes, I know three real people with those names

1. If you had twins today (Whatever gender you want), what would you name them?
Cora and Lydia
Luke and Cora

2. Would you ever give your first name as a child’s middle name? No.
3. If not, what about your middle name as your son/daughters middle name as well? More likely than the first, but there are many I'd use before my own middle name.
4. You are forced to give your son a feminine name, and you daughter a masculine one. What are their names? (You can add a middle name) This is a tough one. I'm inclined to cheat on this one and just go with gender neutral names across the board, like Rowan, Willow, or River.
5. Do you prefer names with history to it or is it completely coincidental? I tend to prefer names that are established, even if in a small way. I like the idea of honoring names.
6. Does a name not being ‘genuine’ enough bother you? I'm not sure I understand this question. But, I am bothered when people use random words for names, especially words where I am just thinking - really?
7. How do you feel about accents with names? Would you ever use a name with one? (Ex: Chloë, Renée, Anaïs.) I don't mind them, but because I live in the US, I wouldn't use them. I think it would just be too difficult.
8. What do you think of names with different spelling from the original? My name is spelled differently from the original and although I grew to like my name/spelling, I wouldn't do that to my kid. It just gets annoying to have to constantly correct the spelling, or see people spell it wrong even if the correct spelling is right there (Ex., replying to an email, making a comment on social media, etc.).
9. Do you like nicknames for your child or even yourself? Or do you prefer the full name? I briefly had a nickname in elementary school, but generally I've always gone by my full name. Any nicknames that stuck actually have nothing to do with my name. In making a list of names for prospective children, I do keep in mind the most intuitive nicknames and if I don't like them, the name goes down a few notches on my list.

1. No idea. 2. That would be a really weird things for me, culturally, and so I don't think I would.3. My middle name is my maternal grandparents' last name, so I think that would be nice.4. If it weren't for societal reactions I think I'd ignore gender with naming a boy, since I like fewer names that care considered masculine than ones that are considered feminine. That being said, I particularly like the name Dov for a boy but know it can be hard to be a male named Dov in the US because it seems feminine to people so I would go with that or use Dove. I love Dylan or Linden for a girl, but again there are lots of things I could go with.5. Eh. 6. I'm not sure what "genuine" means here. A name that isn't more recently invented? I don't care.7. They're fine, and I do like clarity with how to pronounce things, but probably annoying in the US for paperwork purposes. 8. They're fine. My name seems like a variation because of how it was transliterated, but it's a valid transliteration.9. No nickname really stuck for me with most people. I don't think I'd mind one, but I do really like my name. For other people they are fine. Some nicknames I really like.10. No, though I do think I like a wider variety of names as I think more about them and I have thought more about them in times when I am at home and bored more often.

11. My family will get over it. If they really can't stand to use the name, they can use a nickname. They wouldn't find out until after the birth anyway, though they might know the initials because of how likely I am to give an "honor name" that would start with a grandparent's initial. 12. Willow is the first one that comes to mind. If we're talking top 10, Olivia. From the boy's list Noah.13. Making twins' names very similar. Matching all the kids' initials. Juniors are also weird to me.14. Something offensive is what first comes to mind. Also if it really seemed like the name was 1) a joke and 2) something that would be difficult for the kid to go through life with.

1. I would name them Abigail and Micheal(boy and girl).
2. I don't think so. My name probably wouldn't be smooth with the rest of the name.
3. Yeah, I would, because it's short for the name Gabrielle.
4. My daughter would be Adrian and my son would be Elise. Case closed. They'll live.
5. It doesn't matter to me. The ones with a lot of history are good but common.
6. Just a little. But not that much!
7. Yes! I think accents are pretty cool, though you might wanna get a different keyboard if you live in America.
8. I love them. Tawny, Tawnee, Nory, Nori, Elly, Ellie...
9. I like nicknames, and I would definitely use them on my children, depending on their names. I'll use one this year.
10. Nope! Well, except for the fact that I feel really bad for the people named Corona.
11. Yup. No matter if I named my kid Danger or Thorn or Dire, I wouldn't care.
12. Hmmm...I think that would be Jordan. It's really cool, and it's not like the trendy -ayden names.
13. They whole -ayden thing. It bugs me. A lot. Even though my cousin and fried have a name like this.

depends on what way it's not genuine enough. generally, No.7. How do you feel about accents with names? Would you ever use a name with one? (Ex: Chloë, Renée, Anaïs.)
They're alright, I don't mind them. But Chloë is just Chloe with a mark. It's pronounced the same where I live. So it's kinda like a pointless embellishment, like spelling it Chloey. Only it's nicer than that.8. What do you think of names with different spelling from the original?
it's fine, some of them are to my taste and some are not.9. Do you like nicknames for your child or even yourself? Or do you prefer the full name?
I probably prefer using them out loud, but not as a full official name. Like I might name a kid Thomas or Sophia, but I would never call them that. They'd be Tom and Sophie.10. Has the pandemic changed your taste in names?
No?11. You and your partner just chose the name for your child. You both love it and have no doubts in mind. Your entire family hates it. Do you still keep the name?
Of course. In reality, they wouldn't let on, if they hated a name I used. Because it's obviously rude and selfish to tell someone you don't like their child's name. Anyone, even a relative. They might have hated the ones I did use, at the time! But if they did, they got used to it, and never said a thing to me.

Sure, that wouldn’t bother me. I’d prefer my middle name, to give to my daughter, but I wouldn’t mind my first.3. If not, what about your middle name as your son/daughters middle name as well?
Whoops should have read ahead. Yes, I’d have liked to give my daughter my middle name as hers, but since I got to pick her given name, DH wanted to pick her other. And I didn’t want her to have three names, as one of her names is already fairly long.4. You are forced to give your son a feminine name, and you daughter a masculine one. What are their names? (You can add a middle name)
Yuck. I hate these kinds of questions!
Maybe for a girl… Quinn. Quinn Eliana Grace. That way she can either go by Ellie or Gracie.
For a boy… Alexis. Alexis Nathaniel James. He will either go by Nate or James.5. Do you prefer names with history to it or is it completely coincidental?
I don’t care about the history. Names that have cool meanings are a nice bonus, but I picked names I loved the sound of.6. Does a name not being ‘genuine’ enough bother you?
Sort of. I have a niece that has a completely made up name and it really annoys me. It just seems… so cheesy and unintelligent, to purposely name a child a name that you think you made up. That’s rude and not a nice mindset at all. 7. How do you feel about accents with names? Would you ever use a name with one? (Ex: Chloë, Renée, Anaïs.)
They kind of annoy me, if you’re not French or whatever nationality the name is. American girls named mïchellè or etc just bug me!8. What do you think of names with different spelling from the original?

You are forced to give your son a feminine name, and you daughter a masculine one. What are their names? (You can add a middle name)James for a girl and Kelsey for a boy.5. Do you prefer names with history to it or is it completely coincidental?I don't care for the history of a name when I decide whether I like it. But I like honouring names, so I guess I like when they have history for me personally.6. Does a name not being ‘genuine’ enough bother you?Do you mean like new, creative names? I don't tend to like them immediately because I often find the spellings and sound choices awkward. But I loved, e.g. Arrietty from the second I saw it, so the name being new on its own doesn't bother me.7. How do you feel about accents with names? Would you ever use a name with one? (Ex: Chloë, Renée, Anaïs.)I find it incredibly pretentious to use accents that don't exist in the language context the person and their kid will exist in. But like, hey, if you want to make your kid's life that much more difficult, then who am I to stop you.8. What do you think of names with different spelling from the original?"Original" is kinda vague. You go back far enough and things can get quite interesting. Just because one spelling emerged as the dominant one doesn't mean it's more "original". Which is the original Mae or May? Sometimes I go to look up historical usage of some names and I get something like "Olive: Olif (1379), Olive (1279), Olyff (1581), Olyffe (1579), Olyve (1202)" and I don't feel like I'm entitled to say who was right or who was first.

I prefer using completely new names or naming them after someone else I know.4. Son: Eve. Daughter: Justyn.5. I don't. I think it's cool if they have history, but some names with stories behind them are rather pitiful: Tristan, Ophelia, Job, Delores, etc.. so focusing on the backstory is not always important. Nicknames are fun. No sense getting worked up over them, they are inevitable.

You and your partner just chose the name for your child. You both love it and have no doubts in mind. Your entire family hates it. Do you still keep the name?

1. Cordelia Faye and Jillian Marissa, perhaps? I've swapped out Juliet for Jillian lately, but I've pretty much had this set picked out since I was 13.
2. I wouldn't have any plans on it, but I guess it could work as a middle name.
3. On the other hand, I would definitely use my middle name as a middle name if I had a daughter. One of the combos listed above uses it.
4. In a weird way I kind of like Soleil for a boy, and I guess Rhys for a girl? I've always seen that spelling as the masculine one, with Reese being the unisex form.
5. I generally prefer names with some sort of history, but there are exceptions.
6. Not really.
7. I'm fairly neutral towards it. I don't know if I would use one with an accent though since that could become confusing on paperwork.
8. Depends on the name. Some I don't mind (Elizabeth/Elisabeth or Rhys/Reese for example) and some I can't stand (such as Ashley/Ashleigh).
9. My name is literally 4 letters long so I feel like a nickname for it is just lazy. I generally prefer the full name.
10. Not really.
11. Yes, I keep the name. I'm not a fan of some of my relative's names, but I don't say anything about it.
12. Charlotte was due for a comeback. Admittedly, it's becoming super overused, but I like it far better than, say, Madison.

5. Just stylistically I'm more drawn to "old fashioned" names, but it's more about the aesthetic.

7. I wouldn't, in the US it's more hassle than anything. But if it's part of another language, well, you might as well be asking me how I feel about the Cyrillic alphabet. That's how you write the name. I don't have an opinion.
8. I usually prefer original, though some alternate spellings feel pretty established and they don't phase me. It depends how intuitive the spelling is, too.
9. Depends on the person really
10. no

1. If you had twins today (Whatever gender you want), what would you name them?
Theodora Audree & Zelda Philomena
Theodora Audree & Linus Oscar
Linus Oscar & Felix Vikram 2. Would you ever give your first name as a child’s middle name?
No. I am not a fan of giving children the same names as parents. 3. If not, what about your middle name as your son/daughters middle name as well?
My second middle name is my grandmothers name, and will be a daughters middle name as well. 4. You are forced to give your son a feminine name, and you daughter a masculine one. What are their names? (You can add a middle name)
Hazel (m) and Kendall (f) 5. Do you prefer names with history to it or is it completely coincidental?
Yes. 6. Does a name not being ‘genuine’ enough bother you?
Not as much as it used to. 7. How do you feel about accents with names? Would you ever use a name with one? (Ex: Chloë, Renée, Anaïs.)
Yes, my middle name has an accent. I live in Canada where accents on French names are not uncommon. 8. What do you think of names with different spelling from the original?
Depends on how and why the spelling was changed. 9. Do you like nicknames for your child or even yourself? Or do you prefer the full name?
I'd never give a child just a nickname as a full name (unless it has a long history as a full name Robin, Nancy, etc.). I tend to like names with a lot of nickname options. 10. Has the pandemic changed your taste in names?
Not really. 11. You and your partner just chose the name for your child. You both love it and have no doubts in mind. Your entire family hates it. Do you still keep the name?
Yes. I plan on not telling the family the name until baby is born. 12. What is one name that’s popular you actually think deserves it’s time in the light? It can be one for a boy and one for a girl.
Sophia is beautiful. William is very versatile. 13. What is one baby name tradition or trend that you don’t like? It can be anything.
Juniors. 14. What (type) name automatically makes you (Or would make you?) lose respect for a parent?
Drug/Alcohol related names.
