[Opinions] Oliver
What do you think of Oliver?
I think it's classic and somewhat romantic sounding. I picture a mischievous little boy & a roughish gentleman.
WDYTO the nickname "Ollie"/ "Olly"?
Can you make any combos? [One that ends on the last name Santander-Wood. Asterisk your faves!]
Combos I have are:
Oliver Thomas
Oliver Peter ***
Oliver Manuel
Oliver James **
Oliver Robert
Oliver Yves
Oliver Matthew
Oliver Mason
Oliver Edward
My beautiful, beautiful Makkari.

It's the name of my 5 week old baby, so I obviously like it. It's been one of my favorite names for years. I think it's sweet and I too imagine a mischiveous boy and I can't imagine a mean Oliver. I like Ollie as a nickname too, and I use it for my son sometimes.
My favorite combos are Oliver Thomas and Oliver James.
More ideas:
Oliver Peregrine
Oliver Isaac
Oliver Ted
Oliver Ezra

I feel rather indifferent to it. Always have. Although I do find it a very classic and decent name, I also don't understand the overwhelming appeal of it-why it's becoming so increasingly popular. By next month when the new SSA baby name list is revealed, it wouldn't remotely surprise me to see Oliver as the number 1 name for boy's. If not this year, then most certainly by the following year. It's inevitable.
That aside, here are a few combos I came up with for it:
Oliver Andrew
Oliver Cainan
Oliver Cameron (Probably my favorite)
Oliver Damian
Oliver Dante*
Oliver Dean*
Oliver Douglas
Oliver Edmund
Oliver Elliot
Oliver Emil
Oliver Hezekiah
Oliver Jackson*
Oliver Jameson*
Oliver Jesse
Oliver Sage
Also, I don't care for Ollie/Olly at all. Forgot to answer that.

It has a very soft rhythm to it, I can't imagine anything else but an introverted art kid. I didn't like Ollie a few years back,as I thought it was imbalanced. but after I met my my best friend my feelings changed overtime. Ollie is a very cute gender neutral name.
I honestly don't understand the appeal of Oliver and never have. It has a slithery, slimy mouthfeel, like ... liver. The sound is not attractive to me at all. All over. Ah, liver. Yuc. It's almost cartoonishly prim and buttoned-up, like a name for a fussy cartoon frog or something. Ollie just sounds like a big slob. Or a skateboard move.
I happen to think liver is delicious!
I only like it as a middle name.
I like it despite myself. It feels serene, slightly retiring, modest, polished, fey. While there are obviously many Olivers strewn through fiction, the one I thought most suited his name was Oliver Manders in Agatha Christie's Three Act Tragedy: a handsome, self-conscious, Jewish aspiring journalist born out of wedlock (which, the novel being set in the 1930s, causes him much distress), hopelessly (less so by the end of the novel) in love with a spirited young woman known to her friends and associates as Egg, who I always thought was rather cruel to him.
Ollie (the marginally better spelling) and Olly are dreadful. So slimy and glib.
Combos:
Oliver Basil Santander-Wood
Oliver Clement Santander-Wood
Oliver Edwin Santander-Wood
Oliver Isaac Santander-Wood
Oliver Laurence Santander-Wood
Oliver Nathaniel Santander-Wood
Oliver Quentin Santander-Wood
I'd asterisk my favourites, but I like them all just about equally. Maybe a very slight preference towards the first two, as Basil and Clement are underused.
