Where have you seen an explanation for Keisha that suggests 'favourite'? There are a lot of unreliable sites out there.

A commenter on the meaning of Keisha claims that it means favorite and is of African descent. I just wanted to see if true or if somebody could prove it.

In South Africa alone, we have eleven official languages, of which two are of European (Indo-European) origin; some of the other nine are mutually comprehensible, others aren't; and at least two minority languages have been omitted and their speakers are lobbying to have them also recognised. And that is in one country! Africa is seriously big. Saying that something has an Africa origin is too vague to be even slightly helpful. If it comes to that, every human on Earth is 'of African descent'! You are quite right to want more information; I hope someone can provide it, but I'm not very hopeful.

I don't think so. It is very likely based on Keziah, and therefore mean "cassia, cinnamon" (which is the meaning of the latter).
