[Opinions] Re: Hugh?

Is Aodh pronounced like Ed? I think we might have issues with pronunciation here, but I love Irish and Welsh names.
Glad to know there are other Hughs out there :o) My grandfather was a Hubert, but I don't like the -bert part.

John: Why do you know all this random, useless stuff?
Me: One day I will win a lot of money on Jeopardy.

My father was Hubert(as were the other Hughs in his family) too but no one ever ever called him that except his mother(mother's privelege I guess). He never used Hubert - even on a lot of forms he used Hugh.
I don't like Hubert myself...it reminds me of a stuffy little Victorian boy in knickerbockers for some reason! Interestingly enough none of the 5 Hughs in his family used Hubert even if it would have made things easier. They all had nick names like Hugh/Hughie-next- door,Hugh-at-number-whatever,Uncle H,Hugh Lastname and Young/Old Hugh. Oh yeah the kicker was that 4 of them lived within four houses of each other!!
Aodh is pronounced AY. To tell you the truth it is not very common in Ireland and I'd worry a bit if it would sound like "Eh!" but I do like it and my husband has a really long last name so it would balance out.
