[Opinions] WDYT of Dahlia?

Ditto
I put this comment in awhile ago "One cannot think of the name without being reminded of the legendary Black Dahlia murder of 1947. Elizabeth (Beth) Short was cut in half outside of Los Angeles, CA and the case remains unsolved. A movie entitled "The Black Dahlia" is due to be released this year (2006) and will feature Oscar winner Hillary Swank, Josh Hartnett, Aaron Eckhart, and the lovely Scarlett Johansson."
I like the name too, but its just too much.

Maybe it's been so long that this won't matter
and I don't mean to put you off, but there was a very famous case in Hollywood in the 1940s called the Black Dahlia murder. Very gruesome. Here's a link for more information, but be warned: this link, though it is only information, also contains embedded links to very graphic photos that are probably not for everyone.

I'm sorry to say this was the first thing I thought of, though I am a little older than many BtN members and this may not matter a bit to anyone else.

Proud daughter of Ann and John
Proud sister of Lauren and Leah
Proud wife of David
Proud mother of Alexander, Scarlett, Sophia, and Gideon

That's still my connotation, and I'm
just into my twenties. :-) I think it's still a fairly well-known reference. It was teh very first thing that I thought of when I saw the name.
The abolition of religion as the illusory happiness of the people is the demand for their real happiness.
To call on them to give up their illusions about their condition is to call on them to give up a condition that requires illusions.

There's a movie coming out about that soon
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0387877/
So chances are it'll become common knowledge.

You beat me to it, Lillian. :) Whenever I see or hear the name 'Dahlia', I immediately think of the Black Dahlia. I don't think many of my contemporaries would make the connection, but that's what I get for watching too much CourtTV, lol.

While I do like most floral names, this one has never really got my fancy, sorry. It makes me think of Zsa Zsa Gabor trying to say "darling" ("DAH-ling"). Still, it is correctly spelled and fits a sweet trend, so:
Dahlia Sophie
Dahlia Catherine
Dahlia Evelyn
Dahlia Mary / Marie / Marianne
Dahlia Callista
Dahlia Chloe
Dahlia Persephone
Dahlia Helen
Dahlia Hermione
Dahlia Penelope
Dahlia Phoebe
For some reason Greek names keep popping into my head with Dahlia. Perhaps I'm unconsiously thinking of Daphne.
