[Opinions] Re: Lola and Lulu

Lulu always seemed cartoonish and babyish to me; then I had a wonderful colleague - much older woman - whose one and only given name was Lulu. She was a school secretary, pleasant, competent and versatile. I still don't like her name, though!
Lola. The Kinks. I asked her her name, and in a dark-brown voice she said "Lola. L-O-L-A, Lola" Be still, my beating heart. But, and entirely because of the song, I don't think Lola is usable IRL, except maybe as a stage name - like the Lola in the song, of course. I've known several dogs named Lola; they don't know that they are named after a sweet transvestite (wrong music, I know ...) and it seems to suit them. Not a cat name, though: too innocent and energetic.
