I like the name, prefer the spelling Tilly and find it works for a full name, or as a nn for Matilda. Very sweet name.

I can tollerate it as a nn for Matilda, but on its own it’s more suitable for a pet.

In my opinion, Tilly is superior to Tillie, which somehow looks more immature and cutesy and has too many 'i's. Tilly is cute and refreshing - I don't know anyone named Tilly or Tillie personally (I can think of one I know of but have never met). I only like it as a nickname for Matilda though; I don't think it ages well enough as a standalone name. Matilda being one of my favorite names at the moment, I think Tilly is a good nickname for a young girl and maybe teenager. Mattie if she's more of a tomboy or prefers it, and Tilda for when she's older or if she prefers it.

I prefer Tilly. I'm not a huge fan. It doesn't feel complete to me, even as a nickname. Maggie and Tommy and Billy feel like solid real nicknames to me - Tilly feels like it isn't fully there.

I know a sweet person named Tilly. Not Matilda, just Tilly. And even that doesn't fill it out for me.

It was quite popular here (UK) around 10-15 years ago. I prefer Matilda or Tilda.

Tilly is ok, but only as a nn

If you asked me last year I'd say I find it refreshing and vintage. A year later and I know four Tilly's! I still like it, but it has lost it's "newness".

I prefer Tilly. I don't really like the look of Tillie - too much i's.

If I used Matilda on a human, I'd bust myself trying to ensure that Tilly - that spelling - was the only nn possible. Partly because I do like it a lot, and partly because our dog named Matilda was mostly known as Mattie, Mattsie, or (sorry, pooch!) Matt the Mutt.
