I actually love Michelle! I absolutely know and agree that it feels dated and very common in the English-speaking world, but I began loving it before I knew it, and it's too beautiful for me to stop loving it just because of that. :D I love the sound of Michelle, it's meaning, and, probably most of all the huge nickname potential it has. I would never use it on a real life child because of the datedness and commonness in the English-speaking world, but also because over here where I live it would definitely be regarded as pretentious. Plus I have a cat called Misha so it probably wouldn't be the best idea anyway. I also absolutely love our Polish Michalina, as well as Michaela, but preferably pronounced the Scandinavian way (mee-kah-EH-lah) rather than like Makayla.
I know a baby Michelle and it was a nice surprise!
I think it's very pretty.

Very dated: I blame the Beatles. And I also prefer Michèle, which looks neater and is the version used by two very good friends, one French and the other South African English. Because of them, I'd use it, but only as a mn. At school, the South African one was known as Mickey and Mish! I knew another one who went by Chelly, but I don't recall if she was Michelle or Michèle.
I like it.
Love it
is Donna Jo up next? lol j/k
But I vastly prefer Michaela / Mikaela! Michelle is too dated for me.

I feel like Michaela is just as dated. A more recent dated but dated all the same. Very 2000s.
