When I was little and could not spell Georgia but remembered that it had two Gs, I announced that my name was Gigi. That held until we moved cross-country when I was 8. At that time I said I wanted to be Georgia.

As george-ee-AH-nuh. I'd probably use it for any name with a G sound (hard or soft), but this is the most intuitive.
