[Opinions] Re: Kayleigh
in reply to a message by Perrine
I remember the first Kayleigh I knew was the daughter of my friend's sister who got pregnant at 15. I bet I would have loved it as a teenager, too. But it doesn't age well. Another association is the character (Kaylee) in the tv show Firefly, so it also has a slightly dorky image. And of course, saddest of all, Caylee Anthony, toddler murder victim.
If you really, really love it and can't be persuaded, what if you named her something like Katherine Leigh and called her Kayleigh?
My top spelling is Kaylee, because it's the simplest. No confusion about how to pronounce it. (It would be Caylee if not for Caylee Anthony, because I like C-names more than K-names.) I don't like the spellings that are unclear, pronunciation-wise, like Kalea (I know one, and she pronounces it like Kaylee).

I wouldn't consider that because I find it complicated and it doesn't make much sense to me because if I wanted Kayleigh I wouldn't be satisfied with Katherine Leigh (which I find boring as a combo).
I wouldn't use it (more of a GP) but if I did I would just give her two classic middle names. Kayleigh Alice Annabel or something.
I know Kalea as kah-LEH-a.
