As a Sarah, I feel I’m qualified to answer this question :) It’s a timeless classic, it will never date and it works well for all ages. Is it a bit lacklustre? Maybe, but then the same could be said for a lot of classic names. You either like them or you don’t.

I don't dislike it and I don't like it, it seems calm like glassy windless sea, no special associations neither bad, nor good. It looks yellow.
Strangely enough, I like Sadie.

I can't stand Sarah. It doesn't even register as a name for me. I do enjoy Sarah / Sara occasionally as a middle name, though (e.g. Eglantine Sara and Ermengarde Sara).

I've always found it dull and drab, and I'm very grateful that my mother thought of another name for me. I much prefer Sally.

I love it but I am not sure if I would use it. I wouldn't like to have a name from my parent's generation (on paper people always think you are older) so I am not sure if I would do this for my child. Maybe as a middle name.

And yes, the fact that lots and lots of people seem to think that it's the most boring name ever is also not that great.

I love Sarah I've always loved Sarah, it's so happy and sweet and no matter how many Sarahs I've known they've always been lovely people. I love it so much in fact that it is the anticipated nickname if I ever named a daughter Seraphina (but spelled Sara or perhaps Sera) some people have told me that it's a little bit of a waste to pick such an ordinary nickname for a long and uncommon legal name but to me it makes perfect sense for privacy reasons. The more common the nickname for an unusual legal name the better imo. Might as well use a common name I like. Plus the association with A Little Princess is so sweet I read the book and watched 90's movie for it all the time as a kid. Sarah / Sara has so much approachability and friendliness to it it's hard to ignore despite the common element to it.

It does feel kind of dated. I know a boatload of them, mostly within a certain age range. Weirdly, it felt very much like an old lady name to me when I was a child. Then it became popular again and felt younger. But then it was over done and now seems dated. I'm starting to come around to it as part of a double name, though. For instance, I know a Sarah Grace who uses both names. I rather like that.

I have never likd it. It's just so generic-white-preppie-girl. I picture her talking in this nasal baby voice that's always just a shade off of a whine, overly enthusiastic about the new bleachers in the gym or the company blood drive or something. She has a remora fish of a bff (and she, Sarah, uses netspeak abbreviations in her speech all the time omh!) named Katie or Jen.

It's too boring for me. I do love the meaning princess.
