Help[Facts] Canadian Popularity
The Canadian popularity lists now include data from both Ontario and BC. Formerly only BC was used. Ontario, the most populous province in Canada, makes the lists much more reflective of the whole country. Unfortunately the Canadian provinces all report data separately, in different formats. If I can find more provincial lists that a) stretch back to the same early date, and b) include the raw numbers and yearly depth that make the combination possible, I will add them too.

The data for Quebec (the 2nd most populous province) doesn't stretch back to 1920 like the other two lists, so I've oped not to include it in the combined data. However, I have created a separate series for it. Daphnee, Arianne and Jacinthe are names that appear in the Quebec top 100 rankings but have never cracked the French top 500.

For the most part, Canada's overall name popularity is similar to that of the United States (which makes sense, we are culturally similar); but what caught my eye was just how popular Maya still is in Canada, where it seems to be falling here.
Edit: then again, the overall number of babies born in Canada was fewer than in the U.S., so that could also influence popularity differences (~390 in Canada versus >3600 in the U.S. named Maya).
