[Opinions] Ogden
I'm reading a book whose author named her son Ogden. WDYT?
I'm kind of appalled. Such a heavy, clunky-sounding name. And Oggie as a nn? Yuck.
*****
And last of all an Admiral came,
A terrible man with a terrible name,—
A name which you all know by sight very well;
But which no one can speak, and no one can spell.

It sounds extremely harsh and unattractive to me. Oggie isn't great either. It just feels odd to say Ogden.
Really weird...Don't like it at all.
It's SO heavy and SO clunky that I respect it. This name is a lot of fun, I'd love to know an Ogden.
Very strange.
Oggie is cute! It's similar enough to Ozzie not to seem super weird to me. Or it's somehow similar to Opie.
But I feel like Den / Denny is more approachable and probably has potential to be used more in general because of Din from the Mandalorian.
I prefer the sound of Ogden to Oakley. I wouldn't pick it out myself, though.

Ogden Nash
The door of a bigoted mind opens outwards so that the only result of the pressure of facts upon it is to close it more snugly.
And
Candy is dandy but liquor is quicker.
Also David Ogden Stiers
Both make me appreciate the name. I woukdn't use it, especially with the nn Oggie (so close to oogle) but it's not terrible

Yes, terrible
Og / Oggy in my accent is atrocious, but for someone who pronounces o’s as more of an “aw” I suppose it would sound more like Awgden / Aug / Auggy?
Og just makes me think "cave man" name, like the first invented name ever lol. It's actually a biblical name too if I remember correctly... but yeah you're right Ogden is kind of atrocious
I think it's adorably dorky. Denny would be a cute nickname.
True, Denny would be cute.
