I don't think Bear has ever been edgy in my lifetime. It's the same age as
Fawn and
Dawn and
Misty in my mind...older than me, like a vintage fringe jacket.
I have an uncle called
Buddy who's around 80.
Sonny seems a similar style, would be in the same group as
Junior or Sparky or Tripp. NMS.
Lennon reminds me of Lenin, and
Monroe just seems ugly.
Wilder / Wild is one I can't even take seriously.
Ever is okay but trite;
Everly is faddish but has more character.
I've met someone named
Honey, and I actually felt hesitant to say her name because it seemed so over-familiar.
I like:
Hendrix (I also like
Hendrik)
Honor (disliked until I heard it IRL)
Dove (I've met one, parents were religious)
Winter (I have a cousin with this as a MN)
Philip (also have a cousin named this)
Larkin (seems less tired than
Lauren or
Logan)
Josephine EloiseSunnyPhineas
I like
Ray,
Rae, Rey,
Jane,
Jean,
Joan,
June,
Jo as MNs. Yeah, they're fillers, but they're nicer as filler, like foliage in a flower arrangement.
Rose and
Grace make bad filler...or
Rose does, and I just dislike the vibe of
Grace, partly because it's trendy like
Grayson and partly because it sounds insufferable to me.
I almost want to like
Bodhi, Blue, Rebel,
Apollo,
Rio,
Birdie, but I don't really. Pepper, Bowie, and fem
James are meh.
Bo is also meh, but I do like Po / Poe.
Lark's a bit abrupt for me, but I like several names that have that sound in them.
River,
Willa, and
Shiloh are okay. I don't mind Saint either; it reminds me of a musing/quote by
Leonard Cohen, as a word name.
Atlas carried the world on his shoulders: not a namesake I'd want for my kid, plus there's
Atlas Shrugged, yikes.
