[Opinions] Milena, Melina, Malina & Mirabelle ...
What are your opinions of the names Milena, Melina & Malina?Milena means "Gracious"
Melina means "Honey"
Malina means "Raspberry" (or a form of Malcolm)Do you pronounce Milena as mih-LEE-na or mih-LAYN-ah?Personally I've always liked the spelling Milena the best, and I pronounce it as mih-LEE-na.
And just to save room, Mirabelle is still threatening to overtake Mira as my top name. With the combo Mirabelle Ruth it would honor both of my grandmothers, my mother and myself. (Paternaly grandmother is Belle, Maternal grandmother is Ruth, Mother is Ruth Ann, I'm Kerri Ruth). Ruth is non-negotiable as the middle name no matter what first name I end up choosing in the futureSo WDYT of the name Mirabelle? Would it age well? Or should I just stick with Mira?

Milena means "Gracious" - I think it's pretty, and I love the meaning.
Melina means "Honey" - like this slightly better than Milena
Malina means "Raspberry" (or a form of Malcolm) - like this the best, plus I like the idea of a little raspberry running around, giving my raspberry raspberries, etc., lol.Do you pronounce Milena as mih-LEE-na or mih-LAYN-ah? I prn all 3 names as muh-LEE-na...either b/c I'm lazy or from the Mid-west where we don't differentiate our vowels! :o)
Personally, I think Mirabelle will age well (it's on my list as a possible mn for Jeanna, but spelt Mirabel, b/c Jeanna Mirabelle would look a bit too frilly). You know me, I'm big on longer fns with cute nns, so I'm all for Mirabelle, nn Mira. And I can absolutely picture you with a little Mirabelle Ruth, nn Mira. I love the fact that this combo honors so many people! Same with Jeanna Mirabel (Jeanna honors my paternal grandma, bio-mom, & DH, Mirabel honors my mom, MIL, both of DH's grandmas, & my maternal grandma). If I were you, I'd write this one in stone (or at least ON stone so it feels more permanent, lol).

Milena (mih-LEH-na) is the name of a friends sister, it's nice.
Melina isn't as nice, but Malina is nice. Although I prefer Malin.
About the Mirabelle thing, I agree with Julia.

Milena, Melina, Malina...
All three names are lovely, although my personal favorite is Melina. I think it's absolutely gorgeous, and it's one of my personal faves. I love the combo Melina Rose, and I pronounce it mih-lee-nuh.Mirabelle is cute, although not really my style. I do prefer it over Mira...it sounds more complete imo.

Milena, Melina, Malina . . .
These names are all rather lovely. Personally, my favorite of these names is Melina. I've always found it pretty. And I'd pronounce it mih-LEE-na.As for Mirabelle, it's a lovely way to remember your grandmothers and mother, but I don't like the sound of it as a name for some reason. I'd just go with Mira, though. I like the sound of Mira Ruth more than Mirabelle Ruth.

Milena - lovely. I recent favorite, but I prefer the below
Melina - love it!
Malina - very nice. This could definitely be added to my favorites as wellI pronounce Milena mih-LEE-na.I love Mirabelle! It's in my number one combo right now (Tova Mirabelle). I think it would age well, though admittedly it is a bit frilly/cutesy. And she could always be nn'd Mira. I love the combo Mirabelle Ruth.
HannahI will dub my first child Alexander. If you want to know what will occur if my first child is a girl, I will tell you. He will not be a girl.

I like Milena (mih-LEH-nah), am pretty neutral on Melina, and really dislike Malina.I think Mirabelle is nice enough, but really can't see an adult Mirabelle. It's sort of cutesy and frilly, especially spelled that way (as opposed to Mirabel). I LOVE Mira, though, and it would age gorgeously IMO. You could still have Mirabelle be your own special nickname for her (and I think that's really cute).

I thought of using Mirabelle as well. Even though nicknames are usually a shorter form of a name rather than a longer form, haha.Would it be weird to call Mira by the nickname Mirabelle if I end up having another daughter with the middle name Belle?

NahIt would be a little weird if you named her Mira Belle and had another daughter named Lily Belle. But since her name would be Mira Ruth, I think it's fine. Maybe a little odd, but still fine IMO. And I still think it's adorable. ;)

Love the name Melina or Malina. But I pretty much pronounce them the same way. Both are lovely. I also much prefer just Mira, which also lovely, over Mirabelle. But im not a big fan of "belle" names.
