[Opinions] Sybil and Sibyl
Replies
I think it's both sleek and frumpy sounding in a way that's kind of unique. I do like saying it (so like it for other people), but I'm not sure I'd want to be called it.
Stylewise, I'd group it with Sylvia, Cecile, Tabitha, Lenore, Beatrice.
Yeah, I can see it being popular again.
I don't know how most people would spell it, but Sibyl is what looks most natural/intuitive/pleasant to me.

ahhh I wanna name my future baby this too! And was wondering on spelling also.
I love the name Sybil / Sibyl!
I prefer it spelled Sybil, but Sibyl works too. I would personally like it to make a comeback, along with other names that seem to have gone out of fashion. (Such as Margaret, Marjorie, Bessie / Bess, Hester, Ingrid, Kathleen, and Barbara, etc.) If any of these names made a comeback, it'd be like a breath of fresh air among all the modern/currently trendy names such as Neveah, Nova, Harper, Jayden, Asher, Levi, Emma, Grace, Oliver, etc. (Not that I have anything against those names, it's just that I've hear of/met a lot of them... 2 Neveahs, 3 Novas, 7 Harpers, 4 Jaydens, 9 Ashers, 10 Levis, 11 Emmas, 7 Graces, and 4 Olivers. That's how many of them I've actually met.)

Don't like, I'd spell it sybil

I like it. Well, I like how it looks and what it means. The sound is less appealing. I think I prefer Sibyl.
It's a strong contender for a hypothetical feline sister to my dog Prudence. Heh heh heh
Sibyl Josephine is the perfect little Sibyl combo - conservative, though.

I like it and I think it could make a comeback. I far prefer Sibyl, and I think it's the more intuitive spelling.
I love and would spell it Sibyl, that feels more natural to me.
This was one of my favourite names for ages! I really liked it. It's funny though, after Downton Abbey's Sibyl, I liked it less, even though she was a great character. That show made me appreciate Edith and dampened my crush on Sibyl. Maybe Sibyl is one of those names that I like the look of, but the sound isn't as nice.
I prefer Sybil, that "Syb" seems witchy and I like the idea of occasionally calling a Sybil "Billie" or "Bill". I do naturally write Sybil, Sibyl takes effort.
