I'd guess Ash-a, because of popular names like
Ashley,
Ashton,
Asher.
But I'd have a nagging feeling that AH-sha is more correct.
I've never met an
Asha.
I somewhat associate it (in addition to the names mentioned above) with
Asherah and
Aisha, both of which seem like they have more character to me.
It's also like
Maya. Simple, complex/multicultural, popular sounding.
I don't think it's legit to say it means "ash tree", but one could say that. Like,
Eartha is obviously connected to "earth" but not in a way that's "legit".
