After spending his childhood in Massachusetts, Mason Keo-Van Daele moved to Texas for college and subsequently ended up working there, too. In his first year teaching literature, Mason met Tina in a book club that he started at the public library in town. She had some vastly differing opinion from him on some of the books and he liked that. He liked it so much that he asked her out on a date.
A few years later, they got married, moving into a small three bedroom house they bought with money they'd saved up. They wanted to start their family immediately. However, before Tina could get pregnant, they came across a young woman who didn't know what to do about her baby since she knew she didn't have the money to raise the child herself. On a whim, Tina said that they'd adopt the baby. Tina and Mason gave the girl a safe place to live until she gave birth, at which point, despite Tina's urging otherwise, the young woman walked away.

One weekend, Mason and Tina decided to take a trip back to Mason's hometown to visit his family so they could spend some more time with the twins and Oliver. While they were gone, someone broke into their house, stealing a few expensive items and leaving their house a disaster. They never did find the perpetrator but they did manage to replace all the items they were missing.

Tina had gone to a protest earlier that day while Mason volunteered to stay home with the kids since they were too young and too energetic for them to tag along. Apparently, things got a little crazy and Tina, along with many other protesters, wound up being arrested. Tina swore that she all she had done was peacefully protest.

Ainsley picked out an adorable black lab who was incredibly friendly and kind with the kids. Mason made the executive decision to adopt the dog, deciding to keep the name the shelter had given him, Ody, lengthening it to Odysseus.

A couple months after their conscious decision to stop trying, Tina found out that she was expecting. Ainsley was elated to find that she was finally going to have a sister.

The doctor said the chance that they were able to conceive quadruplets naturally was almost a one in a million, which sent Tina into a fit of laughter over the obscure and insane way that life worked.

While out playing with Javi and Eliott, Sawyer found and caught a frog and brought it home. Tina and Mason were a little taken aback at first, but with some good advice, decided that it would be okay if Sawyer kept it as a pet.
Ophelia also finally started dating again this year. She met her boyfriend, Ethan Konishi, at a coffee shop in what some would call a romcom worthy meeting. They started talking and they really hit it off. Ethan ended up putting off a couple meetings in order to stay and chat longer with her.

Mason and Tina unexpectedly decided to adopt again this year. A little girl from India came across their path and they couldn't help but want to give her the home that they felt she deserved. So after the long process of legally adopting her, Sarika came to live with the Keo-Van Daeles.
Ophelia and Ethan ended up adding to their little family this year as well. Shortly after they announced their engagement, Ophelia announced her pregnancy as well. She gave birth a little prematurely to their son, Justice, but he was a little fighter.

What started as a small cold quickly made it's way through the entire family. However, when everyone else made a full recovery, Sarika still grew sicker. A trip to the ER wound up with a much bigger diagnosis than your average cold.
Ophelia and Ethan got married this year. In lieu of a honeymoon, they took a family vacation. Bringing JJ with them, they took a trip to Japan to visit some of Ethan's family who remained there.

What started as a small cold quickly made it's way through the entire family. However, when everyone else made a full recovery, Sarika still grew sicker. A trip to the ER wound up with a much bigger diagnosis than your average cold.
Ophelia and Ethan got married this year. In lieu of a honeymoon, they took a family vacation. Bringing JJ with them, they took a trip to Japan to visit some of Ethan's family who remained there.
