Help[Opinions] Is Ivan too stereotypical for a Russian?
Hello! So, another character name thing. He doesn't live in Russia, he's only of Russian descent (Russian parents or grandparents) He was actually born and raised in latin america (Where Ivan is used as a standalone name, most people have no idea that it's a version of John / Juan / João and overall just think it sounds good). If it's too stereotypical, do you have any suggestions? Thanks in advance :)

No, it has a wide enough usage outside of Russia.

No, it's not distinctively Russian so does not sound stereotypical. It just fits.

Didn't know it was Russian. It's been used in Britain and is considered dated.

I would've said Boris or Dmitry would've been more stereotypical. Also, I have met actual Hispanic men (with no ties to Russia) named Ivan, so this doesn't seem like a bizarre choice at all.
