I prefer the spelling "Alexei" which I find to be the most intuitive.
I like this name but it is one of my least favorite Russian names. I love how it looks but dislike the sound. The diminutive "Alyosha" is adorable.
I did not think of Alexa at all. I don't think that would be a problem.
I thought of Amari, Giovanni, Gianni, Avi, Anani, Andrei, Nikolai, Valery, Anton, Vasili, Roman, Rodion, Raphael, Casimir, Agustin, Alfonso, Alistair, Valentin, Cyril, Natan, Leo, Antoine, and Oscar.
