My first impression of Sidalie is that it's a variant of Sidonie, which itself is a French female name. Since Louisiana Creole is a French-based language, primarily a French language combined with Spanish, Native American, and West African languages, to me it seems likely it's based on Sidonie. Cedalie looks like a variant spelling of Sidalie. But that's just my opinion- I couldn't find much information behind the name's origin.

In the "Ya-Ya Sisterhood" books, there is a main character named Siddalee - and yes, Louisiana Creole. I always wondered where that name came from.
