Matilda (and I saw your subsequent Isola
Jane poll). The way I’ve heard it said is ICE-ə-lə, and I got it from the Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society (movie), where there was a nice character with the name. But isn’t it a beautifully complementary sister name for
Oscar Wilde?
I like it very much. I like how it means “island” and implies ”isolation.”
Though I love
Ursula, I might not be brave enough to use it for a child, as much as I wish I could because I love it—Isola would serve as a milder substitute.
