Help[Opinions] Gilbert
I never used to like the name Gilbert but after reading Anne of Green Gables, watching the film, and recently being obsessed with the series ‘Anne with an e’ I’m beginning to love it. What are your thoughts on the name? And has a book, film or series ever made you like or love a name?

I never really cared for it much either (Even though I actually have a cousin named it and have taking a liking to the diminutive of 'Gil') but I'm pretty sure that the character has warmed me up to it a smidge (; I'm a fan of the netflix series as well. I've actually been binge-watching it since last friday. SUCH a beautiful and amazing piece of work.

I won't be far behind you (: (I'm currently on the ending of season 2) I can't wait to see season 3 even though I wish it wasn't the last. How dare they cancel this beautiful show. How dare they I say! LOL

With an entirely different cast and everything? Wouldn't be the same in my opinion. But instead of dwelling on despair, I'm just going to apprechiate the fine work of art as it was-and of course always will be. (:

I think it will be the same cast but I’m not sure, Amybeth McNulty would probably still be Anne.

I once read a book (I can’t remember the author) and the villain’s name was Gilbert. Ever since the name just gives me the creeps..

I like the French pronunciation a lot. Otherwise it has that same kind of nerdy connotations with me that I have with any name ending in "bert"

I like Gil (Hebrew) by itself, and I like Gilbert more, when I pretend it's related to that.
I think Gilbert's more serious than Gordon and less stuffy than Albert. They all seem about the same age (elderly), but Gilbert is easiest to imagine young.
There are lots of names I like only because I've grown familiar with them via pop culture references. For example, probably the only reason I'm somewhat fond of Harry / Harriet is because of Harry Potter, Harriet the Spy, and a children's book about Harriet Tubman; I think I'd hate those names, otherwise.

It's alright, Reminds me of what is eating Gillbert grape movie, it was such a interesting and sad movie
I guess the off putting part is the Gil, reminds of Fish, Bert on the other hand it is more sesame street, a lot of fond memories watching sesame street
