I like Bryony better. I kind of just bounce back and forth between liking it and not liking it.

It's cool. I mean, interesting, uncommon, not too weird, general positive image.
I prefer it spelled Bryony, because Briony looks like it's said "Bree-" instead of "Br(eye)."
I have a friend who has a friend named "Bree-o-nee" (I'm not sure how it's spelled), and that's okay, but Br(eye)-o-nee is cooler.
Bryony will never be a favorite of mine, though - it isn't quite the right shape to really grab my imagination. Maybe it's too Brian-y.

To clarify...do you mean BRIE, which according to the BtN key would rhyme with 'cry' (the BtN key interprets IE as sounding like the I in bite)...or, do you mean, BRIE, pronounced like the cheese, which would rhyme with 'me'?

Briony looks awkward, but I love Bryony and would happily use it, given enough daughters.

I like Bryony, because I like ys, but Briony is fine, too. I like it pronounced either BREE-oh-nee (as you do) or BRYE-oh-nee (long i*), but the latter is the one I have fixed in my head.

I'm used to thinking of Bryony as a word name, and it bugs me when word names are spelled differently, plus I pronounce Bryony like Bryan + ee, and the first syllable of Briony looks more likely to sound like Bree (which could be a good thing, for people who prefer that pronunciation).

I love it. So beautiful. I prefer the Bryony spelling. At first I thought that I shouldn't say so because I would be falling into the "Ys are feminine" trap, but I looked it up and saw that Briony is a variant of Bryony and not the other way around, so I'm safe lol.
