Is Riley for a girl any better when it is spelled Rylie?

10 years ago I would have said that Riley was masculine to me while Rylie was feminine and that I liked Brielle more than Brianna.
Now I think both Riley and Rylie work on a girl (I dislike Rylee) but I prefer Riley on a boy. I find Brielle and Brianna very dated to the 90's and don't really know which is better or worse anymore.

Riley: I'd assume it's a boy, and if it's on a girl I'd still say it was a boyish name
Rylie: Too trendy, looks like a combination of Riley and Kylie. It does look like it's a girl.
Rylee: Nope, that's worse (but also looks like a girl)
Brielle: I like it. I wouldn't use it because "elle" is a little too frilly IMO but it's not bad, and I like Briallen too.
Brianna: Not bad, but boring, and I never know how people are going to say it (I've seen both Briana and Brianna rhyme with either Anna or Ana and I don't know anymore :P)
If I had to use one, I'd use Brielle as a middle name. Or if it had to be a first name I might pick Briana instead. But that's just because I don't like "elle" for naming my own kids; I'd be much more happy to meet a Brielle than a Brianna.

I wanted to also ask why you like the name Riley (regardless of spelling), why you are drawn to it rather than another name that ends with -lee sound or starts with R. It's not unique, but it's not as desperate as, say, Juniper. Rye is a whiskey drink, but Juniper is gin. And everyone will think she's obnoxious, but it's really the parents. Riley is ok by comparison, but expecting every teacher along the way to spell or pronounce oddly spelled names as you'd expect, well, that's your problem, not society's. If you have to keep correcting people, it's never too late to change your child's name.

Riley, if anything. No point in making things gratuitously complicated.
Brielle has the advantage of being an improvement on Gabby, but it's still very unattractive. Brianna looks and sounds more complete, but I don't like it any more or less than Brielle. I'd be happy never to encounter either of them.
That said, I like Brian better than Gabriel. Not sure if it matters!

Rylee/Ryleigh/Rylie just add more confusion to the mix. Riley, no matter how it's spelled is just not very distinctive, for either a girl or a boy. It's also rather dog-like.
Brielle is not terrible. It's better than Gabrielle; I don't like the gab sound.
But I much prefer Brianna, which is a name I'd actually use.

My niece is named Rylie. Personally, neither spelling is my style, but I do think Rylie looks more feminine than Riley - and I'm certainly not going to complain about my niece's name.
Brielle, on the other hand, is a GP of mine; although I actually prefer Briella to Brielle. (However, I prefer Gabrielle to Gabriella.) Most people would probably tell me to just go with Gabriella/Gabrielle, but I really, really don't like the nickname Gabi / Gabby. At all. For me, Brielle/Briella is a way to cheat around this. (And yes, I prefer both names to Brianna, though I don't hate Brianna as much as a lot of other BtN posters apparently have throughout the years.)
