I think it's the worst nickname for Margaret. It makes me think of a really obese woman. The name just sounds...round to me for some reason.

I love it! I think it's really cute and upbeat.

In elementary school I had a friend with a younger sister who went by Marjie (for her it was short for Marjorie) and liked it ever since.

My daughter is named Margaret and I wanted to call her Margie but it didn't feel right for her, so we call her Meg.

I don't know what happens in the UK. In America it seems to be pronounced like Marjie, but here in South Africa the g in Margie is the same as the g in Margaret. This makes more sense as a short form of Margaret, but I don't like the sound of it at all. I far prefer Maggie, or even Meg or Peggy, though they would be unlikely in today's world.

I like it. I think it's really cute. I only know elderly women named Margie, but I wouldn't be surprised to meet a young Margie. My 12 year old niece is named Margaret and goes by Maggie, but we have been calling her Marge as a pet-name since she was a baby.

It sounds unpleasantly heavy and doughy. It's a pallid lump that just won't rise. Margaret is okay, but many of it's nicknames are either dated, unpleasant, or both.

It sounds like a rude and spoilt child.
