Again, there was great joy in the Morra’s lives and great hardship too. Just after the last round five years ago all rejoiced with surprise when Piera announced that she was pregnant after so many years! Her mother, Margherita, declared, “Your womb has been freed from barrenness at the joy of your daughter’s coming matrimony. May you be blessed mothers together!” As usual, her mother’s dramatic proclamation was met by a smile and nod by Piera, who thinks that her womb was just ready again (the famine couldn’t have helped it any, could it?). Everyone was even more overjoyed and amazed when she gave birth to twins!! Two more girls the Morra clan, Ilaria and Chiara named for the happiness and brightness that they’ve brought back into the Morra family.
Sadly, the next year Piera’s mother Margherita passed away from a fever that struck their county and her father followed his wife several weeks later. Margherita would have said that he surely died from grief, and this time Piera would have unquestioningly believed it.
Though still mourning the Rosellis’ passing, they decided to continue on with the planned wedding as so many preparations were already underway. Thus, the next year when Isabetta turned 18, she and Doriano were married. However the marriage was annulled four months later after she told her parents of Doriano’s cruelty. Though his parents were as upset with this as hers, and Adriano sought to make reparations to keep up their partnership, the Morras severed all social and financial ties with the Navarra family. Thankfully, in part because Taddeo urged the priest to name the marriage an annulment rather than a divorce (and the marriage produced no children) and also because Taddeo was granted the title of Duke by the King (thanks to the ties that have been formed with the bank thanks to the influence of his stepfather, Alderano), and being young and from a desirable family, Isabetta was still considered eligible and she quickly made another match. They received an offer from the son and inheritor of a wealthy tradesman, Christoph Alexander Thiessen, and they were married last year (hopefully much more happily). In a surprise twist, they also have had twins! Theirs are boys, Andreas Domenico and Theodor Vincenzo, given a combination of Germanic and Italian names, who will surely enjoy playing with (or getting bossed around by) their twin aunts.
