I have actually met an Ursa in real life (her father was an astronomy professor), but not Ursula, and that makes me sad. I've always loved the name, even as a little girl watching The Little Mermaid, and I would gladly name my daughter Ursula... if I was sure I wouldn't get so much push-back from just about everyone I know.

While personally, I wouldn't use Ursula, I like the combinations Ursula Sibyl / Sybil, Ursula Tamsin, Ursula Mary Ingrid Ursula and Iris Ursula.

I really hate it, I am sorry. Because: It sounds ugly, it reminds me of the sea-witch from "Arielle" or half naked Ursula Andress and I have a very annoying relative named like this.

Ursula sounds unpleasant to me, and I still associate it with the sea-witch. In my mind, Ursula pretty much conjures up the definition of hag:
1: an ugly, slatternly, or evil-looking old woman
2 archaic (a : a female demon (b : an evil or frightening spirit : Hobgoblin
3 : Witch

To be fair though, I tend to find the sound of most 'U' names off-puttingly guttural. It could be my accent. I do like Uriah for boys, and I like Unathi and Ume for girls, but that is about it.

If the baby I lost had been a girl then he'd have been Ursula Ingrid. It took me a few years but it's back on my list at number one! I think it's a beautiful name and rather unexpected. My combo is Ursula Rosy but I'm not 100% on it. I also enjoy Ursula Theodora.

I do like Ursula, but I'm warming towards Ursa, more and more. I would probably use that before I'd use Ursula.
