So...this is my name! As a kid, I didn't really like my name. I thought it sounded old and too girly (since I was a tomboy) and there weren't really any cool nicknames for it (though my sister calls me "Laur" all the time). But, as I got older, I learned to like it. And it made me love the Little House on the Prairie books because
Laura was the main character. I also liked that it wasn't a super common name growing up too. And I like the meaning of "Victory" from laurel leaves.
I do get called
Lauren A LOT, like at least once a week. And I am also called
Nora and
Laurel frequently. I also get the nickname Laurasaurus, which I love. And some kids call me
Laura the Explorer, or just
Dora (I work with kids), which I find sweet/funny.
It's funny you wrote the combo
Emily Laura cause my sister's name is
Emily. I heard "
Emily and
Laura" all the time as a kid, so it feels weird to have the names together, but the combination sound nice.
My name is
Laura Kimberly and I really do love the flow of those two names together (apparently
Kimberly was my Dad's middle name and it got passed down to me).
I like
Laura Katherine and
Emma Laura on your list, but what if you did:
Laura Kathleen Laura Emmeline Laura Emilia or
Emilia Laura or
Amelia Laura or
Laura Amelia Laura Evelyn
(I guess I'm just going for more alliteration by finding similar names to your choices that have L sounds.
I also really like
Emily Laurel together. Just sounds nice to me with the extra L at the end.
Laurel Evelyn sounds nice to me too. But maybe not everyone get as excited as I do about alliteration, lol.
I LOVE the name
Laurel. I think it's pretty but less feminine than
Laura, and I love the nature connection too. For a while, I wished my parents had picked this name instead. Apparently,
Laura was the only name my parents could agree on, lol.
Anyway, I like my name. Solid, classic and feminine. It's done me well so far.
Hope it helps to hear from a
Laura! :-)
